Susan Strutner, LNHA, CDAL, CDP, CADDCT - CEO
Personal experience coupled with a desire for helping others opened the door to senior care and service over 30 years ago. Susan's passion has never wavered . As a licensed and certified administrator, she views her leadership through the lens of quality person-centered care and services. With the vanguard of our mission, Susan believes that strategic planning with the Board of Directors, leadership team, and invested volunteers to practical development and implementation is the driving force for high standards. She earned her B.S. from the Ohio State University, has additional noteworthy credentials as a Certified Dementia Practitioner and Trainer, Certified Eden Associate, and volunteer senior guardian. She has presented workshops and seminars on senior living development, team building, communication, and memory support/dementia care topics to a variety of audiences.
Born and raised in a large, loving extended family, Susan and her husband Gary are members of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Massillon where Susan is a Eucharistic Minister.
Brian Harbert, CFO
A life-long resident of Stark County, Brian is a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Walsh University. With his finance degree, he has worked in various healthcare administration rolls for more than 20 years, utilizing his skills and gaining valuable experience. Brian believes in giving back to the community through volunteerism in order to make it a better place to live. He was a long-time Canton Chamber of Ribs Burn-Off Committee volunteer and chaired the event for two consecutive years. He is the past president of Christ the Servant Our Lady of Peace Men's Club, in which he is still active. He was past finance chair for the American Cancer Society Canton Relay for Life.
Brian resides in Canton with his wife, Laurie, and their two college-age daughters, Courtney and Kinsley.
Rachael Reinhart, MBA, LNHA - Assistant Administrator
In 2013 Rachael began her career at St. Joseph Senior Living in the Dietary Department at The Alsatian while attending college. She received her undergraduate degree in 2016 from Kent State University in Nursing Home Administration. She then graduated with a masters degree in business administration in healthcare management from Walsh University in 2019. While finishing up her degree Rachael was working in the business office and once she finished her degree she was promoted to Assistant Administrator.
Rachael enjoys spending time with her family, and friends. She and her fiance James are planning their 2021 wedding.
Phyllis Schrader - Director of Nursing
Phyllis has extensive experience as a Director of Nursing for the past seven years. Three of those years, have been with St. Joseph Senior Living. Phyllis started her career in healthcare since she was 17 years old. She has worked in critical care and kidney dialysis. She was manager of an Alzheimer's and Dementia unit for two years.
Married for 12 years she has raised two daughters and has five grandchildren. The residents' well being and safety is her number one concern. Her goal is to help residents have a high quality of life and respect in the years that God has given them here with us at St. Joseph Senior Living.
Consuela Gregory - Human Resource Benefit/Recruitment Manager
Consuela has a Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration with 6 years of experience in Human Resources. She brings exceptional knowledge and integrity to the position. She delivers positive messages of affirmation throughout her day to maintain motivation among the staff.
When not at work she loves to cook, spend time with family, and craft. Consuela has two grown children. Her favorite quote "always bring your own sunshine" and she does that daily.
Leatha White-McFarren - Life Enrichment Director
Leatha joined the St. Joseph Senior Living team with 24 years of experience working in long term care as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from the University of Dayton. Leatha's mission is to enrich the lives our residents with meaningful and purposeful activities.
Leatha has been married to her husband Christopher for 25 years and they have 4 children.
Tammy Kuemerle - Director of NH Admissions
Tammy joined St. Joseph Senior Living in 2017 with over 20 years of healthcare experience. She spent ten years prior as a Respiratory Therapist and managed a ventilator rehabilitation program. It was during that time she gained an extensive amount of knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and managed care insurances. She is a great resource to anyone seeking information regarding their insurance and what to expect in long term care.
Tammy is the proud mother of two boys who are both firefighter/paramedics. She has one grandson that she adores and looks forward to having more grandchildren in the future.
Amy Casline, LSW - Nursing Home Social Worker
As a graduate of Malone College with a bachelor's degree in social work, Amy has spent her 30 year career in Social Work. Two years ago she came to St. Joseph Senior Living with the experience that would benefit the residents in the nursing home. She enjoys working with the residents and their families to promote their well-being.
Kari Stocker, CDM - NH Dining Director
Kari has over 38 years of food service experience with 32 of those years at St. Joseph Senior Living. Kari works along with to provide delicious and nutritious meals for the residents of Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living sections of St. Joseph Senior Living.
Married to her husband Kevin for 34 years, they have children and two grandchildren.
Pat Hemphill - Director of Maintenance
Pat has worked for St. Joseph Senior Living for 12 years in the Maintenance Department. Upon the retirement of the previous maintenance director, Pat was promoted to director. Along with his staff, Pat has the responsibility of maintaining the entire campus.
Married to his wife Barb for 39 years they have raised two sons. Each son has exciting careers. One is a police officer in Phoenix and the other races cars. Pat keeps the staff laughing with his comedic personality.
Darla Holmes - Director of Housekeeping/Laundry Services
For the past 27 years Darla has had a career in health care as an STNA. She started with St. Joseph Senior Living in 2014 as a Supply Clerk. When the opportunity came for her to apply for the Director of Housekeeping/Laundry she was ready to take on the responsibility. Darla maintains her STNA license.
Lori Lawson, RN, CDP, CEAL, DON - Director of Nursing Assisted Living, Clinical Manager
Starting her nursing career in 1985, first as an STNA, and then becoming an LPN in 1993 and an RN in 2007 she has always had a desire to make a difference in the lives of her residents. Lori worked in home-care and hospice for a short time, but has always worked with seniors her entire nursing career. She wants the lives of the residents to be meaningful and she enjoys seeing them smile everyday.
Married for 37 years she and her husband have two grown sons. When she is not caring for her residents she is taking care of her two dogs Oliver and Cooper who make visits to the campus whenever they can.
Tammy Tallman CDP, CEAL - Assisted Living Coordinator
In 2003 Tammy started working for St. Joseph Senior Living. For 33 years Tammy has had a career in healthcare. She started as an STNA in 1987 and after several years transferred to medical billing and coding. She then moved on to EKG Technician. Since working at St. Joseph Senior Living, Tammy has received certification as a Certified Dementia Practitioner and a Certified Executive of Assisted Living.
Along with the love Tammy has for her two daughters, she has a big heart for the residents in Assisted Living. She feels very blessed to be able to work with some of the most dedicated health care professionals in long term care.
Beth Brunner - Director of The Alsatian Independent Living/Marketing
Beth first worked at St. Joseph's while a senior in high school when the only building was the nursing home. Beth attended the University of Akron, and from there became the sales and marketing presenter for several professional photography organizations. She was also a guest speaker at national conventions for photography, sales and marketing. She returned in 2011 as the Administrative Assistant, and then Director of Admissions for the nursing home. In 2017 Director of The Alsatian/Marketing.
Family is very important to Beth. Making sure that the residents have their best life at The Alsatian is equally as important. The Alsatian was voted Best of The Best in Stark County three years in row, and she attributes that to the fantastic staff that helps make The Alsatian the best.
